Setup of an internal discussion list has been completed as discussed previously. To recap:

LIST ARCHIVE ADDRESS

A mailing list has been established for discussion among charter commission members. You have all been added as subscribers, and you have received this message via the list. Only "approved" source addresses can post to the list, and no subscription or posting requests from the general public will be approved. All traffic on this mailing list is archived at the following address:

http://lists.jeffcocharter.org/pipermail/commission-jeffcocharter.org/2008/thread.html

A link to this archive will be prominently posted on the web site at jeffcocharter.org. (More on that in a separate message.)

REPOST OF PRIOR MESSAGES

Messages that have been circulated among the entire commission prior to the establishment of the listserv have been reposted, with the following exceptions:

1. Messages containing personal information, e.g. the list of all our home addresses and telephone numbers, were not reposted due to personal privacy concerns expressed by some members.
2. Messages sent exclusively in order to distribute minutes, agendas, etc. were not reposted. These documents will be available via a different, more usable interface at the jeffcocharter.org web site.
3. The flurry of messages back and forth about meeting times were omitted from the archive.

Messages sent between just a few members, or among members of a subcommittee, have not been added to this archive.

HOW TO POST TO THE LIST

To post to the list, send mail to commission at lists.jeffcocharter.org. If your post originates from an approved address and does not contain attachments in excess of 250K, it will be sent out immediately. If for some reason your post is not accepted, please contact Tony Becker immediately to resolve the problem.

Source e-mail addresses will be masked so that they are not picked up by "spam" address harvesters. For instance, "awbecker at custom-ins.com" becomes "awbecker at custom-ins.com," which is typically not picked up by spammers. If you are able to turn off your e-mail "signature" at the bottom of each message, this may contribute to readability in the archive. You may also wish to consider whether to include personal information such as phone numbers, addresses, e-mail addresses, etc. in your message to the list -- please keep in mind that the archive of messages is completely open to the public.

Forwarding addresses have been created for each member of the commission, as follows:

I'm sorry for the unexpected delays in setting this up, and would be happy to answer any questions that you may have, either tonight at our meeting or individually.

-Tony
