If I understood what was stated at the meeting March 20, we are not  
obligated to state statue and we are obligated to US. constitution we can decide  that 
for our own county. If I am not correct in my understanding 
of what was stated someone enlighten me.

This is the information that we have on the  position of the Auditor:
 
Missouri Revised Statutes  Chapter  55  County Auditors reads:
 
Section 55.010. In all counties of the first  class HAVING A CHARTER FORM OF 
GOVERNMENT, there shall  be a county auditor and the county commission shall  
APPOINT and fix compensation of.
 
Section 55.050   At the general  election and every four years thereafter, a 
county auditor shall BE  ELECTED in each county of the first class NOT HAVING 
A  CHARTER FORM OF GOVERNMENT.
 
Please note,  all three chartered  counties in Missouri appoint the auditor.
 
I think that when you see these statutes and  confirm our directive under 
state statute, it would be good to put this on the  list server so everyone can 
be advised as to the status of this  position.
