[Charter-Com] Possible Department of Economic Development

How would our current Economic Development corp. fit into this?  
If I understand you correctly, you may be talking about a different entity.  The EDC's purpose/role seems to be assisting people who are starting up businesses.  Do you have a broader purpose in mind for the Department you are proposing?

I am considering, when I revise the charter draft again, providing for the creation of a Department of Economic Development and putting the Planning and Code Enforcement departments within it as Divisions, as well as all the other economic development activities of the government.  My thought is that everything essential to economic development, that requires coordination and cooperation, should be under one roof with one.  We would have to provide for a transition to this structure over the next two years.
 
What does everyone think about this idea?
